Diop Russell is a junior English major and Film & Visual Culture minor at Spelman College. She is an arts-oriented scholar, destined to change the world through filmmaking, creative writing, and professorship. Diop analyzes films through a Black queer feminist lens to find liberated and complex ways to depict marginalized people on screen. Diop furthers her intellectual curiosity as a member of the Ethel Waddell Githii Honors Program. She also serves as a Spelman College Social Justice Associate, lead archivist of The Blue Record podcast, and a peer tutor in the Spelman College Writing Center.
